PAPER PLANES CONTEST

It's because there are only 4 days left to finish our school year, because it was a beautiful afternoon and because we LOVE to have fun, that we've spent the afternoon learning and making our PAPER PLANES. First we watched tutorials, then we invented our plane designs and ended the afternoon with a fantastic contest!! Good job champs!!

Welcome to The Children's Restaurant

"The Rstaurant" is the final production of our Food Project. Kids have enjoyed every moment of the creation of our restaurant. We invited NFS Head teachers to try the best food in town, prepared with love, by the best 1st formers in the planet!!!

FOOD & APPetite: getting ready for The Restaurant


We've had a conversation about restaurants. The discussion was focused on each of the roles and duties performed in a restaurant. We came up with this ideal organization for our own, that already has a name: The Children's Reastaurant...suggested and voted by all 1st form students.




One of these important roles is that of the CHEFF: in this particular case, we are talking about DESSERTS CHEFF (patissiere)..Enjoy his 1st recipe!!!!

...on a DOC ..in CLASSROOM

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO WORK ON A SHARED DOC?

It's easy:
We log in to classroom with our usernames and password.
Then we read the instructions: "write a description about this picture...but in a team, altogether!
Once we are all there..in the DOC sheet we start our description in turns.
OK...we also play for a while..we can't help it,..!!!
But the description is done just on time!!!
And this is how we work in teams..on a DOC sheet.

1° formers have been working hard on each step required to join Miss Vale's Classroom.

Caperucit@ goes tech!


Our challenge this time included ITCs to encourage students to reading. 
We started with SKYE and POWER POINT! 
We made contact with our story teller using SKYPE, she read us the story of Little Red Riding Hood and used pictures and puppets during the show. 

It was a new and creative way to introduce a story to the kids! They were involved in the activity  and made lots of questions and comments. 

After this experience, kids learnt how to use POWER POINT. I chose this program because it packs up all the tools we need to: picture, write and read, as we have proposed to do this term!

On Tuesday 7th, 1st formers will be having a TESTING EXERCISE. They will be evaluated on the story "Goldilocks and the three bears", already read in class.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM STEP 2:

Our first assignment for Classroom is DRAW OUR HOUSES, LABEL THEM  and UPLOAD to GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

We start the lesson with a short revision, since kids must remember how to access and sign in with their user names and passwords.

As students easily systematize the process, it is quite simple to focus on the task and complete it successfuly.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM: Pilot Program

Google offers a platform for schools to work using different applications. It´s an online classroom where students develop and master technology & apps, a perfect excuse to use the language naturally.

Our first assignmet is to learn our "user names". This lesson will provide students a tutorial on how to type their email address (user name). This is the starting point to enter the platform and have access to each lesson.


Enjoy the tutorial!! We are looking forward toworking on the TASK 1 of Google Classroom.

HOW TO CREATE A GAME? STEP 1

 Setting the rules is our first step in the creation of a video game. In 1st form we had an open discussion where we shared our opinions. Kids decided which were the main rules for the game, and suggested to make a T chart with CAN and CAN´T columns. Check them out to see how they suggest, solve, and justify each statement!!!

¿QUÉ VES? Descubriendo una imagen....

En  primero F trabajamos con  una rutina de pensamiento  ZOOM IN. Consiste en proyectar una imagen e imaginamos a medida que íbamos descubriendo la imagen  ¿ qué les parecía que veían ? ¿ qué les hacia decir eso? Llegando a descubrir que era una imagen del cuento  El ladrón de llaves.


LAS LETRAS DEL ZOO...

Cuando entramos al zoo, nos encontramos con todos los animales, los chicos podrán elegir el animal que más les atraiga.
Al tocar cualquier personaje aparece una pantalla en la que podemos encontrar la direccionalidad de la grafía de ese personaje, el cuento y una canción.
Hay que señalar que los cuentos están relacionados con las unidades didácticas propias de la Educación Infantil.
Finalmente se presenta un vídeo, en el que se puede observar el zoo visto por los niños/as.

Sumas y restas

No estamos de cumpleaños en primero F . Pero estamos jugando con globos a sumar y restar. Fue muy divertido el momento de la resta, ya que tenía que pinchar globos, tantos globos como unidades restadas. Salió tan bien que todos volvieron a casa con un globo.

Experimenting with food

What does food contain?

On Friday, we experimented with food. We discovered that some products have carbohydrates and we can easily recognize them using iodine, as we did:




Then, we discovered that a lot of products, including milk and the delicious peanuts, have fat:





Remember that healthy food is very important!

Our First Dictation

Today we had our first dictation!!! It was a team work where parents, students and teachers worked together in order to help students acquire a new writing method.

Not only writing is involved and developed, but also visual and auditory memory.

Kids must also overcome and get familiar with a testing atmosphere, that includes new rules and focuses on autonomy and self confidence.


              
The results were EXCELLENT!!! Congrats to all for this team work!!!

Wednesday English Lesson

Hello Kids!!

How are you? I miss you HEAPS!!!! Since I can't be at school today I leave you this viedo and all the activities to work on. I hope you have fun and learn lots of English



FIRST: Watch this video. Pay attention and revise animal names and actions.
Try to answer what is each animal doing?




Did you like it? Now pick your favourite animal from the video and WRITE  a description (in your copybooks) of at least 5 LINES. Here is an example:

MY FAVOURITE ANIMAL IS THE PUPPY.
IT IS VERY SMALL
IT IS BROWN
IT HAS GOT FOUR LEGS
IT CAN BARK
IT CAN'T FLY.

Remember that before writing the description, you must copy the date in your copybooks. You must be VERY tidy!!

When you have finished all this, you must DRAW and COLOUR the animal. Look at mine!!

When you have finished all this, you go to break and after break you can play with the IPADS!!!!
There are TWO APPS you can use:


SWITCH ZOO to make the craziest animals ever!!!
ANIMAL FINGER to play with your fingers!!

If there is extra time you CAN play MEMORY GAME with the animal cards.

Bird feeder

What a beautiful afternoon we had on Friday! We created a bird feeder with very simple materials. We decorated the carton of milk, we put a tin inside it and we took some canary grass home.


Next Workshop we want you to tell us if some birds visited your house or not.

Young scientists

Lots of experiments!

WHITE TIGER TRIPLETS IN BA ZOO


The Buenos Aires Zoo is showing off its latest brood of white tigers: Bengal triplets with incredible blue eyes and a playful attitude.

The two female cubs have prominent black stripes and white coats, while the male is pure white.

Zoo veterinarian Guillermo Weimeyer says they were born three months ago, and will keep breastfeeding until they reach five months old, even though they are already eating a kilogram of meat a day!!!

YOU can go and meet them at the ZOO!!!  and participate in choosing their name!!!

We have just started our new project called ANIMONSTERS. 
We plan to learn about animals and monsters. 
We will focus on descriptions and creation of new and crazy animals.
